April 11, 2011 - County of Napa Press Release: "2010 Napa County Agricultural Crop Report". The gross value of all agricultural production in Napa County was $461,480,106.00 - a decrease of $40,756,475.00 from 2009. This 8.1% decrease in gross value was primarily due to a decrease in the value of wine grapes.
April 12, 2011 - Napa Valley Register: "Ruling: County can't protect Angwin ambulance". In spite of both County officials and public insistence throughout the County's RFP process for a new County-wide ambulance franchise, the State has ruled that a sub-contract provision with the Angwin ambulance volunteer service would violate anti-trust laws.

Napa County's new ambulance franchise is making good on its promise to retain 47 full-time and 8 part-time Piner ambulance employees by sending job offers to all of the emergency medical technician and paramedic field staff who work for Piner and applied for positions with AMR. Angwin residents would continue to benefit from knowledgable and experienced professionals who know our unincorporated area.

August 21, 2011 - Napa Valley Register: "Angwin: Where conviction meets cabernet". The remote, tight-knit village has stood apart from the hustle-bustle on the Napa Valley floor for more than a century.
July 21, 2011 - St. Helena Star: "Local Housing Pressure Could Lessen". A dramatically lower required housing allocation is projected from RHNA for 2014.
June 7, 2011 - Napa Register: "Judge finalizes housing ruling". Napa Superior Court Judge Ray Guadagni confirmed his tentative ruling that the county's housing plan complies with state law.
June 6, 2011 - Napa Register: "Judge nods approval for county's housing plan." A 2009 lawsuit asked that the court force the county to revise it's housing plan, claiming that it didn't go far enough to provide housing to low-income residents in the unincorporated area.
January 18, 2012 - Napa Valley Register: "County planners to review climate plan". The County's draft plan to reduce carbon emissions relies 70% on measures ordered by the State and 30% on 35 proposed actions including improving its transit network, encouraging carpooling, promoting dense, mixed-use developments, and requiring developers to offset their project's carbon emissions. Angwin continues to be targeted for urban development.

Backers of a proposal to bring light rail to the Napa Valley say they need at least a million riders annually. The transit system would run passenger shuttle cars on Napa Valley Wine Train's tracks from south Napa to Deer Park Rd, positioning Deer Park and Angwin for developers.

April 2, 2012 - Napa Valley Register: "Planning Commission delays Napa Pipe decision until May". Three of five Planning Commissioners favor housing at the controversial Napa Pipe industrial site. Commission deliberations on the project have been continued to their May 2 meeting.
March 21, 2012 - Napa Valley Register: "Vote on Napa Pipe's future could be made April 2". Following a public hearing of 5 hour duration and 72 speakers the Napa County Planning Commission decided to postpone discussion and their decision on the biggest development proposal in county history until April 2 at 6 PM. The April meeting will be held at the Little Theater at Napa Valley College. Commissioners will debate whether to recommend approval of General Plan and zoning ordinance amendments that would allow construction of Napa Pipe. Click For More

: "City-county panel to address affordable housing". A combination of the decline in development in recent years and the state dissolving redevelopment agencies earlier this year have resulted in fewer dollars available for housing assistance. With money for affordable housing projects on the decline, the city of Napa and County of Napa are partnering to address housing needs in the valley.
April 21, 2012 - Napa Valley Register: "Fog surrounds sale of Pacific Union College land". PUC may be getting closer to reaching a decision on potentially selling some of the more than 1,500 acres it has listed for sale in the Howell Mountain area.
May 11, 2012 - Napa Register: "Pacific Union College still considering sale of land". PUC released a cryptic statement Friday about potentially selling land it owns in the Howell Mountain area, with a spokeswoman saying the college is not prepared to divulge more details now.
May 7, 2012 - Napa Register : "Foes of Angwin development seek ballot measure". Save Rural Angwin began the voter-signature collection process today for a November ballot initiative that would change the land use designation of 3 small green, open space areas in the heart of Angwin, protecting them from subdivision development. The initiative does not affect two areas designated for 191 housing units (with a high percentage of affordable units), or the existing 8-ac commercial area
May 4, 2012 - Napa Register : "Commission deserves Napa's gratitude". An opinion piece.
May 2, 2012 - Napa Register : "Planners approve housing at Napa Pipe". Building up to 945 homes at the Napa Pipe site took a step forward as the Napa County Planning Commission voted to recommend the Board of Supervisors allow that. The vote shifts the action to the Board of Supervisors, which has pledged to tackle the issue this year, possibly as soon as mid June. The board will vote whether or not to adopt those general plan and zoning ordinance amendments.
